NKHTGT was established in 1996 as the Dutch Championship for Historic Touring Cars and GT’s. Nowadays it has evolved in a series of races in various countries, catering for touring cars and GT’s built between 1947 and 1965.

NKHTGT is very popular with spectators because of the variety of competing cars, ranging from the huge Corvette Grand Sport to tiny Mini Coopers. In between you’ll see iconic sports cars like Lotus, Porsche, MG, Shelby, Austin Healey, Marcos, Morgan and Jaguar.

During a well-attended meeting in Houten, the Catawiki NK HTGT 2019 champions were honoured. There were trophies for the top 3 finishers in each class, adding up to a huge number in all. Fortunutaly this did not faze MC Egbert Kolvoort as he is never lost for words. Next, it was time for serious business, the overall trophies. The cup for third place was awarded to Ford Falcon pilot Norbert Gross. The second place trophy went to the veteran duo of Martin Bijleveld and Jaap van der Ende, who have been racing their Ford Falcon for many years. Overall winner and the 2019 Dutch pre-’66 Champion, with an unbroken series of class victories in his Porsche 911, is Erwin van Lieshout. In addition to the trophy for the championship, Erwin was presented with the NK HTGT challenge cup by 2018 champion Brian Lambert. The Michel Oprey challenge trophy was awarded by Michiel Campagne, as always to the most consistent driver of the year. The prize went to a duo this year: Jaap van der Ende and Martin Bijleveld recorded the most consistent lap times over the season. This led Martin to conclude that he should up his pace a bit! Tire supplier HP Tires surprised Erwin van Lieshout and the Bijleveld / v.d. Ende pairing with a number of free Dunlop Racing tires. NK HTGT Chairman Bert Mets was buoyant about the 2020 race schedule, with rounds at Hockenheim, Zandvoort, Spa, Zolder, Assen and Le Mans. Thanks to new title sponsor Nolte Kitchens and the continued support of Gamma, registration fees for 2020 have remained unchanged. There are already 30 drivers registered for a full season of racing, including four new entrants from Sweden. Package deals are still available, mail to race@nkhtgt.nl for more information.
